Oracle Introduces Oracle MICROS Workstation 6

Comprehensive Point-of-Service Solutions helps accelerate check out, save the sale and improve the customer experience

To equip store associates with better information and enable faster, more personalized transactions at checkout, Oracle recently announced general availability of a family of comprehensive point-of-service (POS) hardware solutions built to support a full range of shopping environments for retailers of all sizes.

Oracle’s new POS hardware serves as an aggregation point to deliver digital content to both store associates and customers, so retailers can readily support all retail formats and endless-aisle shopping that customers require.

Working together, Oracle MICROS Workstation 6 Family and Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service make it easy for sales associates to access all the data and systems they need to provide memorable service experiences, from seamless inventory visibility to the kind of customer insights that support clienteling and targeted in-store promotions.

To meet the unique demands of the retail industry, the workstations are fully integrated, certified and secured both physically and virtually to provide maximum reliability.  Built to withstand extreme environments, the devices have no moving parts and utilize ultra-low power components to be more environmentally and economically responsible.

Features of the Oracle MICROS Workstation 6 Family include:

  • Complete POS hardware and software, operating system (OS), application servers, database, and an optional POS application
  • A 15.6-inch wide screen, full high-definition display with a projected capacitive touch screen
  • Hardware drivers for integrated peripherals and custom ports, such as MCR (magnetic card reader), customer display, and cash drawer ports.
  • Integrated design and user experiences to give consistent content delivery across multiple devices, from tablets to workstations
  • Available in three configurations: with an Intel Atom processor, a Celeron processor, or a Core i5 processor.

The new Oracle MICROS Workstation 6 Family expands Oracle’s integrated portfolio of store devices, introducing a new category that serves as a focal point in driving improved consumer engagement. In addition to serving the retail sector, Oracle MICROS Workstation 6 is used by hotels and food and beverage establishments to improve guest engagement from a centralized content delivery device.
