Hardware Retailer launched new program April 1 at participating locations.

Ace has become the latest retailer to jump on the in-store pickup bandwagon.  Ace Hardware launched the national free in-store pickup for online orders on April 1 at participating locations.

Free store pickup will allow customers to check their neighborhood Ace store's available inventory on Acehardware.com and either go in-store to make their purchase or place their order online and pick it up in-store the same day.

Select Ace stores began to offer free in-store pickup in 2014, and the program helps eliminate unnecessary shipping costs and shipment wait times by allowing consumers to identify items already in-stock at their neighborhood Ace.

To participate, consumers  visit acehardware.com, click "Check Availability" on any product they are interested in purchasing to determine which local stores have that item in stock, and order and pick up that item in-store the same day or visit the store to purchase it directly. The platform is also available to users on their mobile devices through the acehardware.com mobile website, as well as Ace's iPhone and Android apps.

"Free Store Pickup enables consumers in neighborhoods across the country to complete their home maintenance projects more quickly and easily than they were able to before," said Jeff Gooding, senior director, consumer marketing, Ace Hardware Corp.

Recently, Ace also began piloting same-day delivery in 33 stores in select markets for products purchased on Ace.com.  This program builds on the In-Store Pickup Program and is known as the Ace Express Delivery. As an extension of the program, Express Delivery will help consumers get their item delivered right to their door for a $5.00 fee. The fee is on par with fees charged by other retailers, and orders must be received by 1:00 P.M. to be eligible for same-day delivery. All orders eligible for Express Delivery must be made by customers within a five-mile radius of a participating store. A list of the 33 locations participating in Express Delivery is available on the Ace Hardware website.

“The Ace Hardware brand has always been synonymous with helpful and excellent customer service, so Express Delivery from your local Ace store represents a perfect extension of our brand promise – Amazing Every Customer, Every Time. We also think there’s a huge value to consumers in having their products delivered by a helpful Ace associate, who they might even recognize from their local store,” says John Surane, Ace Hardware Corporation's Executive Vice President of Marketing, Merchandising, and Sales.
